INVITE YOUR FRIEND TO CHURCH! THIS SUNDAY

If you haven't already heard, this upcoming sunday is a special day - "Invite your friend to church sunday" - just so other people can know what it is we do at church, and why we do it. It is the perfect opportunity for them to feel the spirit, to meet other people in the church! (the random picture is to remind you of the skit and your commitment from today)

Key points:

1. Give them reasons to come!
(You have an assignment, there is dinner afterwards, there are a lot of people their age.....)
2. Don't be awkward when asking. It's not a huge deal! just talk about it like you are asking them to go have dinner or something!

Missionary Updates 1.25.09

-Look at the pure love and joy these missionaries are feeling! A love for people as children of God and joy at helping them come to know truth! You can have this love and joy too!!!

-"So as of Friday afternoon, I'm back in Mt. Vernon - same ward, same apartment, 3 weeks later. I'm stoked. I didn't sleep much Thursday night because I was thinking about all the people I was teaching I'd see again" Elder Nate Packer (he is SO glad to go back to a former city he was living in and help the people he was working with)

-"But let me give you a little peek into one of the greatest hours slash one of my favorite hours of my life...Elder Giberson and I were tracting and I had a feeling/prompting that I should share with somebody that they were a child of God. So I asked a couple questions to Elder G to figure out how to say what I wanted. We rang the doorbell and when a lady came out I tripped over my words, but eventually got it all out. She let us in and we taught her a lesson about Christs gospel and shared simple, sincere testimony....Pretty much I walked out of that house feeling pure joy. I took a picture of my planner bc we accomplished our goals that day..." -Elder Dixon (He got up enough courage to say what he wanted to say in a foreign language and listen to those promptings he received)

-I finally got Elder DiGiuseppe's email address. I will let you know when I get an update

-No new news for now from Elder Bluestar and Elder Wigginton for this week

Member/Missionary work

Missionaries, members, and an investigator friend enjoying a game at a Family Home Evening Activity

Reason For This Blog

We have started this blog page to keep you updated on missionary work going on and to get you enthusiastic to participate in it! Did you know that you are a missionary??? We have 2 full-time Elders serving in our ward, as well as full-time missionaries from our ward out in the field. Check here for letters from the missionaries who are out, events going on at church, and inspiration!!!

Preach My Gospel - A Guide to Missionary Work says: "As your understanding of the Atonement of Jesus Christ grows, your desire to share the gospel will increase. You will feel, as Lehi did, "the great....importance to make these things known unto the inhabitants of the earth"

i.e. As we come to feel our Heavenly Father's love for us, and we feel the healing power of the Atonement, as we come to feel the joy of being forgiven and the fresh start it gives us, we will have a desire to do missionary work!! Sometimes it is easy to feel that desire, but turning it into action can be tough. We will share ideas of how you can share the gospel with those you come in contact with.

What do you do as a missionary? No,  you don't have to wear the tag, suit or skirt!

Here is what Elder David A. Bednar said: "We properly pray for the success of the full-time missionaries. And a common element in many of our prayers is a request that the missionaries will be led to individuals and families who are prepared to receive the message. But ultimately it is my responsibility and your responsibility to find people for the missionaries to teach. MISSIONARIES ARE FULL-TIME TEACHERS; YOU AND I ARE FULL-TIME FINDERS."

It is true! We know so many people. People we associate with at work, at school, at home, during our weekly activities, wherever it may be. As we search those opportunities for ourselves and open our mouths and invite friends to come to church, or to an activity, we are doing missionary work!

We invite you to come check out this blog for missionary updates, quotes, pictures, and ways you can become involved!
